School of Sciences
The School of Sciences offers study to students of undergraduate (honours), postgraduate and Doctoral (PhD) programmes in Biosciences and Chemistry. The curricula are designed to make students proficient with fundamental knowledge of Biosciences and Chemistry at molecular, cellular, physiological and ecological levels with the help of practical training in highly sophisticated Industry Standard Labs. The school orients and develops students to gear up for careers in Bio-chemical related and Pharma Industry in addition to research sectors.
B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry
The department of Chemistry offers (Hons.) degree for students interested in a career in chemistry or in a professional field with a strong reliance on chemistry. The programme is a six semester course. The curriculum has been designed to cater to the needs of industries and also introduction of research culture. It is particularly recommended for students planning for higher study in Chemistry or work in chemically-related fields.

B.Sc (Hons.) Biosciences
M.Sc in Chemistry
The M.Sc. chemistry course is a four semester course. The course is designed to prepare students with a thorough knowledge of fundamentals as well as recent advances in modern organic chemistry. The students would be exposed to new emerging areas of research such as synthetic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, green chemistry and materials science. The course offers many electives in advanced organic chemistry in Semesters three and four. The department has established a state of-the-art class rooms and laboratories with sophisticated equipments. The course also offers an industrial project in semester four to make them industry ready.
The first two semesters are oriented towards all the areas of Biosciences in general. In the second year (semesters three and four) the curriculum consists of different subjects of Zoology with major emphasis on practical aspects. The students are oriented to gain expertise in physiology, biochemistry, genetic engineering and advanced subjects like stem cell biology. Overall, it is the course to train postgraduates with basic bioscience and advance theory subjects along with 6-month research project work enabling students to prove themselves on a global scale of academia and industry.
M.Sc in Zoology
M.Sc. in Microbiology
M.Sc. in Microbiology is a two-year four semester programme. The curriculum is designed such that for the first two semesters, the students are oriented towards all areas of Biosciences in general. In the second year (semesters three and four), the students study Microbiology in particular. The curriculum is designed to train the students in basic and advanced areas of Microbiology, keeping in mind the latest advances in the field. More emphasis is laid on the practical aspects. A major component of their course in the final semester is either a research or an industrial project. The students are offered basic and advanced level courses in various areas of advanced Microbiology followed by sophisticated instrumentation facilities.
The School of Science offers PhD programs in Chemistry and Biosciences. It has seven R&D laboratories with excellent State-of -the-art infrastructure facilities in both Chemistry and Biosciences with highly qualified PhD supervisors from premier institutes with a vast Post Doc experience in research institutes of abroad. The research laboratories are equipped with high throughput scientific equipments as NMR, the only university in Gujarat to be available for research scholars and faculty, GC, HPLC, FTIR, IR, ELISA Reader, Thermal cycler etc. The cutting edge research areas in Chemistry are Total Organic Synthesis, peptides etc. whereas, Biosciences focuses on Microbiology and System Biology. The faculty also has several research projects funded by National and State Funding agencies as DST, GSBTM etc. The University believes in the philosophy that it is through Research & Innovation that will create a benchmark in the education system and hence equal emphasis is laid on research. Dr. Keshri Nath Tiwari is working as a Professor & Head, Department of Chemistry, School of Science at Indrashil University, Rajpur, Mehsana, Gujarat. Prior to this, he has served as Associate Professor & Head, School of Allied Health Sciences, Sanjay Ghodawat University Kolhapur, Maharashtra and an Associate Professor & Head, Faculty of Life, Health & Allied Health Sciences, ITM Vocational University, Vadodara, Gujrat. He has also worked as a faculty member in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Raebareli (2008-2020). He finished his postdoctoral research studies from ENSCP, Paris, France (CNRS Laboratory) in the area of bioorganometallic chemistry with an international research grant by Association for Cancer Research (L’ARC), Paris (2009-2012), France. He has also experience of working as a Research Associate in a pharmaceutical company TCG Lifesciences Ltd., Pune. He completed his PhD from CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune under the supervision of Prof. Ganesh Pandey in the area of synthetic organic chemistry (2008). He completed his B.Sc. (1998) and M. Sc. (2000) in Chemistry from DDU Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, UP. He has more than 15 years of teaching and research experience in the area of organic and medicinal chemistry.
