ACADEMIC FLEXIBILITY & EVALUATION SYSTEM

FLEXIBILITY AT INDRASHIL UNIVERSITY

It is a well known fact that every student has specific ability, interests and career goal. Even employers look for people with different combinations of competencies and talent. Considering these aspects, Indrashil University offers several flexibilities to a student. To mention a few:

  • Various elective courses
  • Electives within and across discipline
  • Faculty from the university as mentors of the programme
  • Degree with specialization
  • Degree with interdisciplinary minor
  • Change of Branch
  • Repeating a course (for improving CGPA)
  • Withdrawal and substitution

These flexibilities allow a student to tailor-made his/her curriculum vitae and reflecting varying interests/abilities /aspirations so as to suit multifarious competencies that the employers desire for.

TEACHING AND EVALUATION

  • The Course(s) taught by a single instructor (theory) is referred to as single section course and course(s) taught by group of instructors in more than one section is referred to as multi-section courses.
  • The faculty for a single section course or associated with multi-section courses is referred to as Instructor.
  • In case of multi-section courses, there is a designated Instructor-in-charge among one of the instructors.
  • A team of instructors, under the leadership of Instructor-in-charge, works together to meet all requirements of teaching, evaluation and administrative aspects of the course. The Instructor-in-charge has the responsibility of conducting the course with the cooperation of all instructors as a team.
  • Course handout is provided to the students on the first day of the class.
  • The process of evaluation is continuous throughout the semester and involves components as periodical tests, quizzes, surprise quiz, assignments, presentation, project work, viva etc and practical examination constituting a weightage of 45% of total marks.
  • A student can register for a maximum of THREE (03) Courses during summer term.
  • Comprehensive Examination will carry weightage of 55% of the total marks.
  • In order to maintain transparency in evaluation, the evaluated answer sheets are shown to the students post conduct and evaluation of the answer sheets. If a student is not convinced with the marks awarded he/she can apply for recheck. However, the student can apply for recheck on the day fixed for reviewing the answer sheet.
  • The Instructor-in-charge displays solution key on the notice board immediately after the internal/external exam is over citing evaluation component/evaluation scheme. The Instructor adheres to the marking scheme announced while checking the answer sheets.
  • Final Grades are submitted to the Controller of Examination by the Instructor-in-charge
  • It shall be the responsibility of the individual student to attend all evaluation components. However due to medical exigencies, if a student cannot appear for any evaluation component, he/she must immediately approach the instructor-in-charge so that the instructor-in-charge, if satisfied as to the bonafide of the request, can forward the request to Dean of School concerned. If, on a rare occasion, a student anticipates a genuine difficulty of meeting the date of the component of evaluation, he/she would take his/her instructor-in-charge into confidence prior to the event. The decision of the Dean of the concerned School in all matters of make- up shall be final.
  • Controller of Examination arranges for make-up of evaluation component on scheduled date
