OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM
Scarcity of safe drinking water is a major challenge for human health as well as the sustainability of the environment and ecosystems. Economic development, population growth, climate change, shifting consumption habits, and the industrial expansion are the primary drivers of rising drinking water shortage. As per report published by Stockholm International Water Institute on 23rd April 2018, 163 Million Indians lack access to safe drinking water. Conventional wastewater treatment technologies have been somewhat successful in treating effluents for disposal throughout the years. However, advancements in wastewater treatment methods are required to make treated wastewater useable for industrial, agricultural, and domestic applications. Hence, this workshop is an initiative to deliver a deep understanding of water crisis and the role of advanced water treatment technologies such as oxidation processes, membrane technologies, nanotechnology and biological methods to treat the wastewater in such a manner that it can be reuse in various industrial, agricultural or domestic application. In addition under the mission of Skill India and Atmanirbhar bharat, this workshop includes a short training to fabricate a standard and customized water purifying system based on membrane technology for domestic application. The knowledge & skill gained in this workshop helps the participants to design their own water purifying system and also enable them to develop their own business model in the field of wastewater treatment.
